Before
- Turn up on time.
- Ensure your section of the course is clearly laid out clearly and accurately.
- Ensure every person is at their designated section of the course, if they are not, send them there!
- Prepare all tickets to give to the finishing athletes.
- Prepare I.C.T equipment to log results.
- Get somebody to run the track to see if any new health and safety issue have arrised. Deal with any new issues on the day.
- Ensure two different 'funnel finishes' have been set up and labelled, one for each gender.
- Bring a high-vis top and hand them to marshalls at important points on the course to sensure athletes don't get lost.
- Make sure the racers have appropriette footwear and kit.
- Risk Assesment
- Bring First Aid kit.
- Ensure that all schools have a timetable and know when they are racing.
- Ensure that all schools are aware of upcoming races.
- Encourage racers as they run the course.
- Make sure nobody cuts corners, if they do, take note of specific items of clothing so that you can disqualify them at the end.
- Hand out the position tickets as they finish.
- Have people starting age specific races at the right times as other races occur around them.
- Watch out for injuries that may occur, if they do, contact the race director.
- Make sure all race tickets have been logged by the teachers and handed in to the position loggers in the clubhouse.
- Tidy up course once all races have finished.
- Write a summary of the event and publish it on the blogs for the next lesson.
